The Last Gasp

Here is the kindly face of Annie Nora Whittington-Ince (nee Watkins) who bore eight children and lost her youngest son Ralph on 11th November 1918.

Ralph had had a brave War as Second Lieutenant with the 11th East Yorkshires, and had won a fighting Military Cross for leading a daylight raid in late 1917, but he was hit by machine gun fire in action on 10th November in the last gasp of the War and died at a Casualty Clearing Station in the early hours of Armistice Day, aged 20.

So here is to Ralph and all his fallen brothers-in-arms, but also to their Mums back home who had to somehow live with what happened to them. We Will Remember Them all.
